System of Government & Constitution

Australia is a Constitutional Monarchy, a Parliamentary Democracy, and a Federation. The Australian Constitution is the supreme legal document and can only be changed by a referendum (requiring a double majority).

  • Senate (Red): 76 Senators (12 per state, 2 per territory) representing state interests.

Three Levels of Government

  • Federal: Defence, immigration, trade, taxation, foreign affairs, currency, Medicare.
  • State / Territory: Police, public hospitals, schools, roads, public transport, railways.
  • Local: Waste collection, town planning, local roads, parks, pet registration.

Part 4: Australian Values

Mandatory 100% Hurdle
5/5 Must Be Correct

1. Mutual Respect & Tolerance

Respecting the dignity and freedom of all individuals regardless of race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. Rejecting racism, hate speech, and discrimination.

2. Individual Liberty & Freedom

All people have freedom of expression, freedom of association, and freedom of choice within the boundaries of Australian law.

3. The “Fair Go” (Equality of Opportunity)

Everyone deserves a fair chance to succeed based on their own talents and hard work, free from unfair privilege or class barriers.

4. Rule of Law & Peaceful Resolution

No person or organization is above the law. Disagreements must be settled peacefully through democratic and legal channels, never through violence or intimidation.

5. Compassion & Community Spirit (Mateship)

Helping neighbors and fellow community members in times of natural disasters, bushfires, floods, or hardships.
